The Upside to Being Down
Beitou Thermal Valley in Taipei was the first natural hot spring I’d been to and I was not ready. Locally dubbed as “Hell Valley”, I was warned that up on the mountain, the temperature ranged between 80-100°C. It felt like 200°C when I was actually there.
My imagination drifted away. 💭
It was so hot when I took this photo. I was losing it. My sweat was sweating.

I couldn’t think about anything. All I could do was allow my mind to wander freely with the sulfuric steam.

For a second, I imagined a dizzying world above and below Hell Valley. It was lush and peaceful.

Back in the moment, I was hit with a wall of thick air and my body screamed to leave.
Goodbye, Beitou.
